WARI BALES COVERED WITH LANTANAS

The past, history and hills of Lima were intangible and tangible territories, present from the beginning of the exhibition project. Lima is a city with an extraordinary architectural cultural heritage associated with different historical periods with cultural developments in which diversity and exchange predominate. During the FLORES research, one of the most surprising findings we had was presented by the archaeologist, Micaela Álvarez Calmet, director of the Huaca Pucllana Site Museum and the archaeologist Gladys Paz Flores. The presence of flowers in the Wari bundles (800 - 900 AD). More than one character, women, men and children were covered with a thick layer of lantanas ( lantana camara ).
The artist Rocío Ponce pays tribute to the person who had a close relationship with the flowers of the thorny bush, which is popularly credited with having astringent properties, and whose flowers and stems are used as anti-inflammatory and healing agents topically, among others.
